Barel Hadaria Shmueli
Barel Hadaria Shmueli was a resident of Be’er Yaakov in central Israel. He served in the Border Police in an undercover unit in the South of Israel. Shmueli was shot by a Gazan gunman while he was taking a firing position to contain the riots on the northern Gaza perimeter fence. Shmueli was hit through a slit in the border fence and sustained a severe head injury. He was evacuated by helicopter to the Soroka Medical Center in Be’er Sheba where he underwent surgery. Despite all the efforts of the medical team, he succumbed to his wounds nine days later. He left behind his parents, two sisters, and a brother.

Ksaun Bayhesain
Ksaun Bayhesain was born on January 2, 1975 in Ethiopia, and moved to Israel with his family in 1989. In 1993, he enlisted in the IDF and served in the Northern Infantry Division. When Operation Protective Edge began in 2014 to put an end to rocket fire from Gaza, Kshaun was called up to the reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel. Because of a health issue, he was not meant to participate in his final mission but wanted to do so. He and two other soldiers were killed in combat. He is survived by his wife, son, and three daughters.
